Measurement, Not Guesswork

What Is ISF Calibration?

Every display has picture controls, but setting them accurately requires more than eyesight. Professional calibration measures the display's output and uses objective data to guide adjustments.

Depending on the display and available controls, the calibration process can evaluate areas such as grayscale and white balance, gamma or EOTF behavior, color performance, brightness and contrast, and different viewing modes or signal types.

The objective is not to make the picture artificially brighter or more colorful. It is to make the display reproduce the source more accurately while working appropriately in the viewing environment.

What Calibration Addresses

Picture Quality Is More Than Sharpness.

Professional calibration evaluates multiple parts of image reproduction that work together to determine how the final picture looks.

Color Accuracy

Measure and adjust supported color controls so colors are reproduced more accurately rather than simply appearing more saturated.

Grayscale & White Balance

Evaluate the balance of red, green and blue through the grayscale to reduce unwanted color bias in neutral tones.

Gamma & Tone Response

Evaluate how the display transitions from dark to bright so shadow detail, midtones and highlights behave appropriately.

Brightness & Contrast

Configure supported controls to preserve useful detail while matching the display and viewing conditions.

Professional Process

Why a Meter Changes the Conversation.

Two pictures can look different without either one being accurate. Measurement equipment gives us data instead of relying on preference or memory.

01 • MEASURE

Establish the Starting Point

Test patterns and professional instruments are used to measure how the display is performing before adjustments are made.

02 • ADJUST

Correct Supported Controls

Available display controls are adjusted based on measured results, the content format and the intended viewing environment.

03 • VERIFY

Measure the Result

The display is measured again so changes can be evaluated objectively rather than assumed to be improvements.

Level III ISF Certified

Calibration for TVs and Projectors.

Calibration isn't limited to dedicated theaters. A premium television in a living room and a projector in a purpose-built cinema can both benefit from measurement-based setup when the display provides the necessary adjustment controls.

Lux Electronics provides Level III ISF certified calibration as a standalone service and as part of professionally installed TV and home theater projects.

Who Is Calibration For?

New premium TV owners: Get more from a capable display than generic factory settings alone.

Projector owners: Optimize the picture for the projector, screen and viewing environment.

Home theater enthusiasts: Match serious audio/video equipment with measurement-based display setup.

Anyone questioning their picture: Determine what the display is actually doing rather than endlessly changing settings by eye.
